Important Info for the next few weeks...

GRADE 7 - PLEASE BRING 12 DOZ CUPCAKES TO SCHOOL TOMORROW!

As many of you may or may not know, my wife and I will be travelling to Holland for two weeks, beginning next week, in celebration of my grandparents' 60th Wedding Anniversary. As a result, there will be two people taking over for me, one for the first week, and another for the second week.  In order to make planning etc. easier for them, we hope to wrap up the units we are currently working on next week so they can teach new units. Ending a unit always means tests, and so I thought I would give everyone plenty of time to prepare.

Gr 6:
Math - p.273 #2-7 due tomorrow
Math - Unit 7 Test - Wednesday October 23
Science 6 - Chapter 6 Test - Tuesday October 22 (yes, we will return from the field trip in time to write the test :)

Gr 7:
Bible - Lesson 7 #1-10 due tomorrow
Bible - Unit 2 Test - Thursday October 24
Memory Work - Ps 37:12 (the Eaglet for this week is wrong), Rom 8:1-8 due Thursday
Math - Unit 7 Test - Wednesday October 23
Science - Chapter 6 Test - Tuesday October 22

Thanks,

MR

READING REQUIREMENTS GRADE 6 & 7

TWO WEEKS AGO, I wrote that I would post the names of the delinquent grade 6 and 7 students who are not finished their reading requirements.  Since I posted their names in the hallway, a few of them hastened to remedy the situation.  HOWEVER, these students still have to fulfill the requirements:

Aidan (1 Book Talk), Nicole (1 AR test), Leanne (1 AR test, 1 Book Talk), Aaron (1 Book Talk), Levi (1 Book Talk), Elia (1 AR test), Ben G. (1 AR test), Kiara (1 AR test), Grant (1 AR test), Jordan (1 Book Talk, 1 AR test), Lauren S. (1 Book Talk, 1 AR test), Jolene (1 Book Talk, 1 AR test), Jayden (1 Book Talk, 1 AR test), Casey (1 AR test), Colin (1 AR test)

An updated list will be posted in the hallway again.  Remember, unfinished work tends to have a snowball effect!

P.S.  Permission forms for the Sardis Library field trip went out today (instead of next week) because the librarian would like to know how many are attending as seating is limited!

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Social Studies grade 6 and 7:  students in grade 7 are working in pairs on a project that is due on October 31, 2013 (Open House Day) called, "Identity, Society, and Culture:  Canada, the United States of America, and Japan."  The purpose of the project is to show the effect of geographical regions, climate, and resources on the cultures of each of the three countries.  In connection with the project, the grade 7 students are reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.  Grade 6 student pairs will begin working on the project tomorrow.  I do not anticipate that the students should have to work on it at home, since ample class time will be provided.

Reading grade 6 and 7:  not to be outdone, grade 6 students are currently reading Wild Ride, A Graphic Guide Adventure, illustrated by Mike Deas.  We have just received word from the Sardis Library that they are eager to have us attend their author reading by none other than.....Mike Deas!!!Please sign the permission form for this field trip when it comes out next week and consider setting aside Tuesday morning, October 22, to chaperone on this very exciting trip!  (I plan to have the grade 7 students read the graphic novel, too!)
